Leo and Earnie score 1 each

A 2-1 win over eighteenth placed Chesterfield sees Cardiff move into eighth place. Cardiff started off brightly with Robert Earnshaw winning himself a slightly dubios penalty, which he scored. Cardiff went 2-0 ahead on 23 minutes when Leo Fortune-West headed a great goal. David D'auria pulled one back for Chesterfield on 45 minutes but it wasn't enough to change the game.

The game started well for Cardiff, on 2 minutes, Rob Earnshaw went racing into the penalty area only to be fouled by Chesterfields Rob Edwards. He scored the resulting penalty with a good shot low into the corner.

Cardiff got the second goal on 23 minutes when a good cross from wide right by Earnshaw landed straight on the Fortune-West who scored with a cracking header. Paul Brayson wasted a few chances and was also called offside when clean through.

Chesterfield struck back on 45 minutes when a left sided cross from Jamie Ingledow wasn't dealt with by Citys left back Andy Legg leaving David D'Auria to score from six yards.

Cardiff came out in the second half looking to sit back and hold 0n to the lead. But they were very lucky that Chesterfield didn't take one of their chances. The game against Tranmere showed that you can't afford to sit back on a one goal lead, so Alan Corks tactical sense has to be called into question.
